Arab Business Intelligence Report

Arab Business Intelligence Report
The Arab Business Intelligence Report (ABIR) presents the results of a major independent programme of research carried out annually by Moutamarat and PricewaterhouseCoopers. It reveals the Arab world’s growing economic confidence, which has been witnessed first-hand by PricewaterhouseCoopers over recent years, and which is based on objective measures of the region’s economic performance and stability.

The report is based on a telephone survey of prominent leaders – typically presidents, chairmen or chief executives, across the Arab world.

One of the unique features of the ABIR is the creation of the Economic Confidence Index for the Arab World, establishing a benchmark figure to track and monitor over forthcoming years. Other indices include the Labour Index and the Education Capability Index . *

The first ABIR was unveiled at the 2005 World Economic Forum in Davos. The survey gathered the opinions of 140 prominent leaders from 14 countries in the Arab world. The survey also focused on three of the non-oil sectors that are contributing most significantly to the region’s high growth: financial services, healthcare, and travel and tourism.

In addition, industry-specific reports, for the sectors mentioned above, were produced with the contribution of Moutamarat and PricewaterhouseCoopers’ extensive network of expertise. Moreover, the quantitative results from the survey were supported by quotes from 9 of the most influential decision-makers in the region.

For details of the reports please see the attached "ABIR I"documents below.

Arab Business Intelligence Report 2
For its second year, during the summer of 2006, the ABIR gauged the opinions of 568 prominent leaders, and extended its coverage to 18 countries and 10 industries across the Middle East and North Africa region.

The report, which was unveiled at the 2006 Arab Strategy Forum in Dubai, revealed a strong positive trend of business confidence and highlighted the importance of human capital and education as areas of development for the region to overcome in the future.

In addition, Moutamarat and PricewaterhouseCoopers are in the process of producing 8 industry-specific reports, which contain quotes and opinions from 15 of the most influential business leaders in the region, as well as comments from Moutamarat and PricewaterhouseCoopers’ extensive network of expertise.
